The League Club awarded $26,938 to support The Immokalee Foundation’s educational programs by covering half the cost of a new student transportation van.
For more than 32 years, The Immokalee Foundation has been preparing the next generation of leaders through a 100% focus on education, career readiness, and professional development for students in Immokalee—from kindergarten through postsecondary education.
As so many of The Immokalee Foundation’s educational programs take place throughout the community, transportation is a considerable issue. Some of these activities include field trips, educational summer camps at Florida Gulf Coast University, and internships at businesses throughout Southwest Florida.
“The little amount of public transportation available in Immokalee cannot meet our students’ transportation needs,” explained Noemi Y. Perez, President and CEO of The Immokalee Foundation. “With this grant, we can complete the purchase of a new van to safely transport our students throughout the year to educational activities that are vital to their success. The League Club is ultimately making a huge impact on all of our middle and high school students and we are grateful for their generous contribution.”
Mary Ann Lillie, President 2023-2024, The League Club: “For over 37 years, The League Club has honored its Commitment to Community by raising funds and distributing them through grants made to carefully vetted nonprofit agencies throughout Collier and Lee counties. These grants address the needs of at-risk children, families, the elderly, and veterans. To date, The League Club has awarded over 7.3 million dollars to deserving grant applicants. The League Club is proud of our Commitment to Community and our ability to assist agencies dealing with food scarcity, housing, education, physical and mental health, and the arts. While fulfilling our mission, we are helping to fill the critical human needs that exist in our communities. This mission is truly the heart and soul of The League Club.”
The League Club has selected and awarded grants to 35 area nonprofit organizations totaling $683,000. Over 37 years, The League Club has provided $7.3 million in grants to 217 nonprofit organizations in Collier and Lee counties supporting children, families, the elderly and veterans.
Funding for these grants comes from the TLC’s Community Trust Fund. These monies are raised from The League Club’s Annual Fundraiser, NAPLES TABLES®, held every spring in Naples, Florida, and from the generosity of The League Club members and donors in the community.
