In Career Development

NAPLES, FL – January 17, 2023 – The Karpus Family Foundation awarded a generous $25,000 grant to The Immokalee Foundation to support its mission of building pathways to success for the children of Immokalee.

Through a 100% focus on education, career readiness, and professional development, The Immokalee Foundation provides high-quality educational services to Immokalee’s students—from kindergarten to career attainment.

Funding from the Karpus Family Foundation will support The Immokalee Foundation’s Immokalee Readers literacy program for elementary school students and its Career Pathways Program for middle and high school students.

The award-winning Career Pathways program curriculum prepares students for well-paying, in-demand professional careers in Business Management & Entrepreneurship, Education & Human Services, Engineering & Construction Management, and Healthcare.

The Karpus Family Foundation, a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) corporation, exists to help people and animals in need. The Karpus family places a premium on supporting educational initiatives with the ultimate objective of helping people live productive lives.

“Mr. Karpus came from a humble background himself. His father was a sixth-grade-educated Pennsylvania coal miner who suffered a crushed pelvis in the mines and then worked in a sheltered workshop later in life. His mother worked in a factory putting jackets on books,” observed Noemi Y. Perez, President and CEO of The Immokalee Foundation. “He understands, from personal experience, the impact this financial support will have on Immokalee’s highly motivated yet economically challenged young people. We could not be more grateful that the Karpus family has chosen to shine its light on our ‘familia’ once again.”

“The children in Immokalee should be proud of their family values that are so important for their success,” said George W. Karpus, President of the Karpus Family Foundation. “Thanks to The Immokalee Foundation for helping these students develop.”
