Melissa Phillips has been named vice president of philanthropy for The Immokalee Foundation.

In the role, Phillips primary focus is on the identification, cultivation and solicitation of major and planned gifts. Additionally, as the vice president of philanthropy, Phillips will help develop and implement stewardship strategies that strengthen long-term relationships with major donors.

With more than 20 years of experience in the humanitarian arena and a proven track record of raising over $100 million in Collier County, Phillips most recently served as the executive director of The Erin Brockovich Foundation. Previously, she began her career as a social worker on a medical floor at a hospital, followed by a position within the mental health crisis unit; and also worked in private practice as a family therapist. She earned a master’s degree in social work from Florida Gulf Coast University.

“Melissa’s strong fundraising and nonprofit experience, along with her commitment to community involvement on behalf of The Immokalee Foundation, will expand our efforts and capabilities to ensure a brighter future for Immokalee students,” said Noemi Y. Perez, The Immokalee Foundation’s executive director.
